TED DEKKER is a New York Times bestselling thriller author. Heralded as a "master of suspense" by Library Journal, Dekker has sold millions worldwide, establishing himself as one of the most widely recognized author brands.

He began his career writing fantasy novels that explored spirituality (Black, Red and White) and has since become a major force in the mainstream fiction arena with his recent thrillers, "Adam," "Thr3e," "Skin," "Obsessed," "BoneMan's Daughters," which landed in the #10 on the New York Times hardcover bestseller list in 2009, and "The Bride Collector". Dekker has been honored with a Christy Award as well as a Gold Medallion Award for Best Fiction. "Thr3e" and his novel "House" became feature films.

Dekker was born to missionaries and grew up among cannibals of Indonesia, and his peculiar upbringing gives him a unique perspective outside the cultural bubble, allowing him the freedom to share provocative insights in his fiction. After leaving Indonesia, Dekker graduated from a multi-cultural high school and took up permanent residence in the United States, earning his B.A. in philosophy and religion, and then went into business.

In the early nineties, Dekker decided to pursue his desire to write fiction, selling his company, moving his family to the mountains of western Colorado, and writing full-time. Two years and three books later his first novel, a supernatural thriller called Heaven's Wager, was published. Dekker proceeded to write 6 more supernatural thrillers, rising to the top of many bestsellers lists and earning himself critical acclaim and legions of fans. "Thr3e" heralded his launch into mainstream fiction and was followed by "Obsessed," "Skin," "Adam," and "BoneMan's Daughters," all of which hit the New York Times bestseller list.

Ted Dekker's fans are comprised of readers of all ages, backgrounds, and belief systems who love his compulsively readable stories, authentic characters, and universal and relatable themes that he explores from a unique point of view.

Life Changing Work

I have struggled with anxiety and depression as an adult that resulted from childhood rejection of identity. I was a lost child. I knew only what I was told I was, and it was never good enough. My husband tried to balance that but I rejected his love for me as undeserved. When my husband passed away and I was forced to come to terms with my new identity as a widow in charge of the only parent I have left who is also the one who rejected me, I became even more lost. In studying The Forgotten Way, I rediscovered and came to accept that I was never rejected by my Savior and Creator. Through The Way of Love, I have learned to forgive and to love the one who rejected me. I see others differently. I see Christ in them and reach out to them in love. Even if they are not Believers, I see the Light in them and reach out to that Light. I find myself being less judgmental of others as well as myself. Love is truly the most powerful force in the universe. It changes lives. I am criticized for my outlook, but I simply love the one criticizing and reach out to the Light that is within them. When we meet in the shadows, we can be drawn into the Light. Overcoming our own blindness means stepping into the shadows and experiencing the Light. Thank you, Ted for meeting me in my shadows and drawing me into the Light.

These Books Are Life Changing

I found The Forgotten Way after my husband of 40+!years died. I have read these books over and over . After I finish The Forgotten Way I move to The Way of Love and then back to The Forgotten Way. The shift in the way I have come to perceive and understand is life changing. I have lost everything that has matters most to me but my Father has blessed me and made me stronger. He brought my new husband to me and has enabled me to love others in a deeper truer way.

Best Devotions

I have all 3 Ted Dekker devotion books but this is my favorite. It has Ted’s testimony and presents his perspective well. It also fits well with the Principles of Transformation Prayer Ministry which is how I seek God’s truth and perspective. Both of these lenses for viewing our short journey here in this life show me more of God and how He sees me and how I can see Him, in love rather than fear.
