Ted Dekker is a multiple award-winning, New York Times and international bestselling author of over 40 novels. His work has reached tens of millions worldwide and has been translated into numerous languages and adapted into major feature films (Thr3e and House). In 2013 NPR readers nationwide named him as one of the top suspense writers of all time.
Rachelle Dekker is the Christy Award-winning author of The Choosing, The Calling, and The Returning in the Seer series. The oldest daughter of New York Times bestselling author Ted Dekker and coauthor with him of The Girl behind the Red Rope and Millie Maven, Rachelle was inspired early on to discover truth through the avenue of storytelling. She writes full-time from her home in Nashville, where she lives with her husband, Daniel, and their son, Jack.

I enjoyed this trilogy and the fantasy writing of Mr. Dekker yet again. (I've read almost all his books!) However, I'm noticing a pattern in his storytelling-- and it was obvious in this series-- that those without Yeshua are called "good." "They're hearts are good, they just don't know the love of God." (Not direct quotes from the books, but that's the idea that's conveyed.) That's not a biblical idea and I don't want to teach that to my kids. God does love people who don't know Him and has compassion on them, but he doesn't call them or their hearts good. That's WHY they need Jesus. I love that Dekker is writing Christian Fantasy because it's needed, and his characters and plots are compelling. But people aren't good at heart UNTIL they come to Jesus. HE gives them a new heart and changes them from an "object of wrath" to a child of God. So my review: a good trilogy, but you should probably clarify some of the themes with your kids.
It's a gift for Christmas but sure it will be well received! Thank you!
I read the first three and plan on getting the last three to complete the set. Great series for readers of all ages!
G @They are for a Christmas gift to 2 of my great nieces & nephews, I do not have time to read them first. They were recommended by the parents.
